Green IT

Everyone is on about going Green and Carbon footprints. Global Sense also has the policies and believes in protecting our future by improving our habits today but what is a Carbon Footprint and what can we do to improve in our day to day IT environment.

Lights, heating and cooling, computers, printers, copiers, business travel, and commuting are all ways that your business or office, even if it is small, contributes to global climate change. Usually we think of industry. When we consider the major sources of the carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to climate change; although that is correct offices and services based companies account for a surprisingly large part of the climate change problem.

There are a couple of items we can provide to improve, to better our tomorrow.

  • Recycling old un-used network cable, the plastic and copper is a valuable resource and can be reused.

  • Old printer cartridges, not only is this the most expensive part of the cartridge, but it be sent back to the manufacturer to be melted down and reused.

  • Consider all your printing items, is it really necessary to print all documents.

  • Disposal of old redundant computer parts, not only is this hazardous to our environment, most parts can be melted down and reused.
